JVLMA MIXED CHOIR
Early in 2014 in Riga and Rezekne conducted by Māris Sirmais. This video is from the March 14th concert in Riga. My first work for voices in Latvian language, the title translates in English to: Highly sings the Lark.
PROGRAM NOTE
This short piece uses three separate texts gleaned from Krišjana Barona’s ‘Dainas’. The focus of this work was to combine the texts in a meaningful way and to use them as a starting point for shaping a narrative melody.

ABOUT
I actually got onto this academic music track because I love film scores.. especially the musicals of the 1960s, I am not ashamed to admit... though in recent years I have developed a stronger curiosity and plunged into an exploration of sound itself.. the physics of acoustic phenomena and electronic possibilities. In the last 3 years I have had a number of happy opportunities to produce music and sound for a diverse range of concerts and projects, some samples of which I am able to share on this site. Thanks for your kind visit, do not hesitate to write!

Lake of Dreams
RIGA/HELSINKI SAX CHOIR
A video from a presentation concert at the Sibelius Academy, Helsinki, Dec 4 2014. Saxophone students from both JVLMA and Sibelius academy collaborated to premiere several new works, including "Lake of Dreams".
PROGRAM NOTE
The movement of time within dreams is beautiful and mysterious, as is the way scenes change. Reflections on a lake are broken by rain or ripples under skimming rocks but underwater life carries on serenely, rocked by other currents.
